High Mowing School, founded in 1942, is the only boarding high school in North America with educational and community values embedded in Waldorf education. This enables our students to be immersed 24 hours a day, all year long in a safe, welcoming and diverse school community with a friendly, supportive social environment where the uniqueness in each individual is celebrated with kindness and compassion. The students learn how to, and do develop deep, authentic and lasting relationships, a capacity that serves them for their entire lives. These values are deeply engrained in the traditions of the High Mowing student and adult community culture. We have a mix of day students and boarding students, with current enrollment at approximately 115 students.
Our stunning and unique New England farm-to-school campus is situated on a charming hilltop with spectacular views of the local mountains and we are also in close proximity to a major urban setting (Boston). Pine Hill Waldorf School
, offering Nursery through Grade 8, is located across the road along with A Child's Nature
whole-child childcare center for children 6 weeks to 6 years. High Mowing School is an accredited member of AWSNA
and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)
. We are fortunate to host the Center for Anthroposophy
summer Renewal Courses and Antioch University
summer Waldorf Teacher Training on our campus. The surrounding community offers anthroposophic physicians, study groups, workshops, conferences, and biodynamic farms.
