Senior Sorrell Nielsen has been involved in circus arts since she was 5 years old when her older brother, Tristan, and his friends needed circus props and started throwing around Sorrell and her sister, Greylin. Sorrell and her siblings attended the Pine Hill Waldorf School where the circus program was a big draw for all of them. Sorrell’s siblings inspired her because she was intrigued by the many possibilities in circus arts. Sorrell continued to follow this passion, learning to juggle, unicycle, balance on rolling globes and tightwire throughout her studies at the Pine Hill. After years of …

February Model UN Conference

On February 15, High Mowing School hosted a Model United Nations Conference. High Mowing students were joined by peers from Alvirne High School and Monadnock Waldorf School to debate one of the more difficult geopolitical issues of the 21st century: China’s Claims in the South China Sea and the islands in dispute between China and Japan.

Noah and Lucas, sophomores involved in an exchange programNoah, a sophomore, is involved in an exchange program this year with a student from École Rudolf Steiner de Lyon et Sa Région. Lucas is here for the fall, and Noah will be traveling to France in the spring. Noah and Lucas will chronicle their experience for us.

It’s for real. The exchange student who existed only in emails, my imagination, and the occasional Facebook stalking session is arriving on Saturday. Two days until this fantasy becomes something tangible as a real, live Frenchman. I’m excited, of course I am. How could I not be? I have never even been outside of the United States (…

A Look Back on the Year

It has been a whirlwind of activity on Abbot Hill for the last few weeks! There were celebratory graduation events and activities, followed by an intense week of professional development for teaching and administrative staff, topped off by our much-anticipated High Mowing Alumni/ae Weekend. Now, with the broad expanse of summer before us, I have a moment to reflect on all of these activities and the accomplishments of the year.

High Mowing's graduating class of 2013

Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2013!

It has been an honor and a privilege to spend the past two years at High Mowing with this year’s extraordinary …
