Celebrate winter’s magic with a concert of music inspired by fables and stories of the ages on Sunday, February 26th at 4 p.m. in the Big Room at High Mowing School. The Sinfonietta, a community chamber orchestra now in its 7th year, is directed by Mark Ferguson, and includes students and professional musicians from around the region. The concert is free, but donations are appreciated and refreshments will be served. 
The concert program includes the overture to Mozart’s The Magic Flute, incidental music to Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Songs of Travel, based on poems by R.L. Stevenson, and Ravel’s, Mother Goose Suite.
High Mowing students Fiona Graham (’13), Naylani Halpern-Wight (’14), Lisa Sukharev-Chuyan (’12), Max Sukharev-Chuyan (’14), Clelie Fielding (’14), Nimrod Sadeh (’13), and Hillary Renaud (‘13) are joined by Elise MacDonald on flute, Candace Wharton on viola, Joy Flemming on bassoon, and many other talented student and professional musicians.
The performance features special guest soprano Katie Madellina, and includes pedal harp, bass clarinet and a variety of percussion, including xylophone. The Sinfonietta is dedicated to bringing to the community smaller, expressive pieces of music by great composers.
