The Board of Trustees of High Mowing School has announced that Rea Taylor Gill will become the school’s new Executive Director, beginning in October 2011.
The Board of Trustees engaged in an extensive search process to recruit and select the next Executive Director of the nearly 70-year old school. Board President Steven Lewers, who led the search committee, says Gill was “clearly our first choice. Rea’s impressive administrative experience and leadership skills will greatly benefit the school and our students.”
Rea says that she is honored to have been selected as the new executive director. She “looks forward to working together with the dedicated faculty and staff, as the school grows and changes to meet the needs of the times and the students of the future.”
Rea was most recently the Administrator at the Vancouver Waldorf School (VWS) in Vancouver, BC, in Western Canada where she has lived her whole life. In addition to a nine year tenure at VWS, Rea has served in a variety of other educational leadership roles and has over 20 years of experience.
She is not a stranger to New Hampshire or the East Coast, having completed her Masters of Education from Antioch University New England and certification in Waldorf School Administration and Community Development from Sunbridge College in New York. As a university student Rea fell in love with the beauty of New Hampshire and the warmth of the people. Rea says she “is thrilled to be returning to live this time, to serve as the Executive Director at High Mowing School where young people experience academic opportunity and an inspired curriculum in a close community atmosphere of support and love.”
Please see our formal announcement and a letter from Rea to the school community for more information.
