National Merit Scholars at High Mowing
Congratulations to Lisa Sukharev-Chuyan '12 who has been named a finalist in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program. Approximately 1.5 million juniors entered the competition by taking the 2010 PSAT/NMSQT. The nationwide pool of semifinalists, which represented less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, included the highest-scoring entrants in each state. To become a finalist, a semifinalist had an outstanding academic record throughout high school, was endorsed and recommended by the high school, and earned SAT scores that confirmed the student’s earlier performance on the qualifying test. Roughly 15,000 students advanced to the finalist level. All National Merit Scholarship winners will be selected from this finalist group.
We are also proud to congratulate David Janetos '12, for achieving the honor of Commended Student in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program. Approximately 34,000 high performers out of the 1.5 million students who took the test were named Commended Students.
We are proud of you, Lisa and David!
