"Perspective" Raffle Winner

Congratulations to HMS alumna parent Claudia Duchene, winner of the "Perspective" Raffle! Claudia's name was drawn on June 21st during Alumni/ae Weekend festivities. Claudia is the mother of Madeleine DUCHENE '12, who now attends Smith College.

This stunning 18" by 54" oil on linen painting was donated by the artist, Mary Graham (pictured above, right), to be raffled. The raffle raised over $6,000 towards the conservation and purchase of Frye Field. Mary is also an alumna parent (Fiona '13 and Gillian '05) and is also the President of the High Mowing Board of Trustees. Mary painted "Perspective" in early 2014, and donated to High Mowing after its completion. The painting's title was inspired by the opening passage of From Farm to School:

..."high enough for breadth of view and far enough for perspective on a busy world and the frantic struggle to get somewhere. Far enough and high enough to lead to a finding of values and goals, enhanced byt he beauty of nature and swing fo the sun, moon and stars over teh endless quiet of the hills."   ~Beulah Emmet, founder of High Mowing School

Congratulations, Claudia! May this view inspire you as it inspires us!
