Tony Mohammed serves as the Director of Recruitment for the Black Rock FC Residential Academies. In this leadership role, Tony is responsible for overseeing the admissions process by evaluating mission appropriate candidates for the boys and girls programs.

 

Tony's career in education spans 25 years and includes teaching and coaching men's and women's soccer at the university level. He has coached at some of the most academically elite universities in the country including Carnegie Mellon University, St. Lawrence University, Vassar College, and Wellesley College. In 2016, seeking the opportunity to be more involved in youth development, Tony took a position as the Head Varsity Boys Soccer Coach and Assistant Director of Admissions at Berkshire School, an independent boarding high school located in Western Massachusetts. After one year, and a "Class A" New England Championship, he moved into his current long term role with Black Rock FC as the Chief Operations Officer. Tony works alongside Black Rock FC founder & CEO, Jon Moodey, to actively collaborate on the club’s strategies for domestic and international growth. In the past three years the club has expanded to serve over 40 independent boarding schools across New England and has successfully launched two residential academies at High Mowing School and Northwood School. The residential academies host highly motivated student-athletes from over 30 countries and 10 states. During this time, Tony has also played a key administrative role for the club's USL League Two franchise, serving as the Director of Operations.

 

The Toronto, Ontario, native received a master’s degree in education from St. Lawrence University in 2001, and a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Kenyon College in 1997. As a four-year starter for the Kenyon men's soccer team, Tony was a part of winning three NCAC conference titles, two Great Lakes Region titles, four NCAA tournament runs, and two NCAA DIII Final Four appearances. Kenyon finished third in the 1993 National Championship and second in 1996. He received several accolades and was inducted into the Kenyon College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.

 

Prior to attending college, Tony was selected to participate with the Ontario provincial team for three years, as part of the Canadian Soccer Association’s player development program. His teams went on to win the gold medal at the 1990 National Championship, and took silver at the 1993 Canada Games hosted in Kamloops, British Columbia.

 

Tony has been a member of United Soccer Coaches (USC) since 1999 and holds a USC Advanced National Diploma.
