From Our Community to the Red Carpet: Alumna Seriena Rose Dresses Carrie-Anne Moss at TIFF

There are moments when the work of a High Mowing student travels far beyond our hilltop, and this is one of them.

On September 17, at the Toronto International Film Festival, actress Carrie-Anne Moss walked the red carpet for the premiere of YAGA wearing a gown designed and made by our own recent graduate, Seriena Rose '26. At just 19, Seriena, founder of the label ENNA by Seriena Rose, saw her work featured on one of the most closely watched stages in the film world.

YAGA is a new supernatural series from showrunner Kat Sandler, adapted from her 2019 play and inspired by the Slavic folk legend of Baba Yaga. Moss stars alongside Hudson Williams, and the series premieres on Crave on October 23. TIFF is widely regarded as the opening of awards season, and its red carpet draws attention from fashion and entertainment press around the world.

For the occasion, Seriena created a black stretch-denim midi dress with black satin embellishments and a sculptural, asymmetrical neckpiece. She drew her inspiration from the show's themes of witchcraft, aiming for a look that felt dark and otherworldly while remaining elegant. She has described the neckpiece as her favorite element, shaped so the fabric appears to flow and twist around the neck in a way that feels "a little unusual and almost unnatural."

The story of how this came to be is as meaningful as the dress itself. Seriena first met Moss in 2023 at a holiday craft fair, where the actress bought a pair of sweatpants Seriena had sewn by hand. The two struck up a connection, and Moss encouraged her to turn her talent into a formal fashion brand. Seriena did exactly that. Following her senior runway show in 2025, Moss reached out to commission a piece for the YAGA premiere.

We could not be prouder. Seriena's success reflects the qualities we hope every High Mowing student carries into the world: the patience to master a craft with their own hands, the courage to share their creative voice, and the confidence to say yes when opportunity knocks. Her journey from a craft fair table to the TIFF red carpet is a reminder that meaningful work, done with care and integrity, finds its audience.

Congratulations, Seriena. Your High Mowing family is cheering you on, and we cannot wait to see what you create next.
