Will Minehart Announced as 2026 Commencement Speaker

High Mowing School (HMS) is honored to announce Will Minehart as our 2026 commencement speaker. Will joined HMS in 2019 as the class teacher for the class of 2026 in their 6th grade year.  He went on to serve as their class teacher through their grade 8 stepping up ceremony and joined many of them on the high school campus for their freshman year as a science teacher (including for several popular science electives) and faculty advisor.

"In Waldorf education, relationships are built over years. To hear from the teacher who once guided this class through the pivotal middle school years, now speaking at their grade 12 graduation, is profoundly meaningful," says Head of School Katherine C. Meyer. "Few educational models create the kind of continuity and lifelong connection that make such a moment possible. I'm grateful to Will for agreeing to be our speaker, drawing from his knowledge of who the students are today and the long unfolding of who they have been becoming all along."

Will holds a BS in Environmental Science from Bucknell University and an MEd in Waldorf Education from Antioch University New England. "Many of us have had the gift of at least one teacher who saw us as an individual, lit a spark of interest in us, and is remembered in our hearts to this day," Will says. "I aspire to be that teacher for as many youth as possible."

HMS celebrates the class of 2026 at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, on the high school campus. The commencement ceremony is open to the community and a video will be available on our website afterward.
