Tour Chase's Mill

Beyond the Hill, tucked along the headwaters of the Cold River, stands Chase’s Mill in Alstead, one of New Hampshire’s last operating water-powered mills and the former home of beloved alumnus Toby Lindholm Dennett (Class of 1969), where he lived from 1989 until his passing in 2004.
This year, we invite you to step into that living history.
The mill was purchased by the Mill Hollow Heritage Foundation in 2016 and has been lovingly restored by local craftsmen who were childhood friends of Toby’s. Chase’s Mill now serves the community as a welcoming place for gatherings, discussion groups, and learning about history, society, energy, and environmental conservation. They offer classes and workshops that expand the skills and knowledge of local residents on topics ranging from tool sharpening to pencil drawing, repairing furniture, woodworking, and spinning wool.
We are offering a field trip to visit the mill, tour the waterworks, remember Toby, and, if we're lucky, spend some time with some folks who grew up with Toby in Alstead.
Whether you knew Toby personally or are simply drawn to places where history and craftsmanship come alive, this outing offers a meaningful way to extend your reunion experience beyond the Hill.
