Athletics at High Mowing School
Athletics are an essential part of the High Mowing high school experience. Our program supports students in grades 9 through 12 at all athletic levels — from those seeking the joy of movement and team spirit to those training with an eye toward collegiate or professional careers. We offer two distinct tiers of athletic participation.
Interscholastic Athletics for All
Basketball, volleyball, cross country, and other seasonal sports are open to all students, regardless of experience level. These inclusive teams emphasize skill development, physical fitness, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Whether you're trying a sport for the first time or continuing your athletic journey, you’ll find support, camaraderie, and challenge.
In addition to participating with schools within the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC), we are a member of the River Valley Athletic League (RVAL). This league also has the same values and philosophical approach to sports as High Mowing and offers our teams the possibility to participate in playoffs.

High-Performance Athletic Programs
For dedicated student-athletes pursuing advanced training, High Mowing offers two highly competitive, pre-professional opportunities:
- Black Rock Football Club (Boys & Girls Soccer): As an official Black Rock Academy campus, High Mowing offers elite-level soccer development led by professional coaches. This program prepares athletes for collegiate recruitment and beyond, while maintaining academic balance.
- Circus Studies Program: Our developmental circus arts program integrates acrobatics, aerials, equilibristics, and performance skills. Designed for serious circus athletes, this program combines rigorous physical training with artistic expression, preparing students for advanced study or careers in circus arts.
Both of these high-performance programs are tailored for students with exceptional drive and a deep commitment to their sport.
