Compass: Personalized Academic Support

Every student learns differently. While some thrive with increasing independence, others benefit from additional structure, guidance, and encouragement as they navigate the growing demands of high school.

Compass is High Mowing School's personalized academic coaching and mentoring program, created to help students build the skills, confidence, and independence they need to succeed both in the classroom and beyond.

Embedded within the school day, Compass provides individualized support that meets students where they are, helping them develop strong academic habits while fostering greater ownership of their learning.

A Personalized Approach

Students in Compass meet regularly with a dedicated faculty mentor during scheduled periods throughout the week. Sessions may be one-on-one or in small groups, allowing support to be tailored to each student's strengths, challenges, and goals.

Together, students and mentors work to strengthen both academic performance and the essential habits that support lifelong learning.

What Students Will Gain

  • Organization & Executive Functioning

Students learn practical strategies for managing assignments, planning ahead, prioritizing responsibilities, and breaking complex projects into achievable steps.

  • Academic Skills

Compass helps students develop effective study habits, strengthen attention to detail, better understand assignment expectations, and receive guided support throughout the writing, revision, and submission process.

  • Confidence & Self-Advocacy

Students build confidence in communicating with teachers, accessing available resources, and taking an active role in their own learning.

  • Subject-Specific Support

When appropriate, Compass also coordinates targeted tutoring, including support in subjects such as math and reading.

Tuition & Funding

The annual tuition for Compass is $6,000, which includes two sessions per week. Additional sessions may be arranged for an additional fee.

Program tuition is billed by trimester and may be incorporated into monthly tuition payments for added flexibility.

Compass also qualifies for Education Freedom Account (EFA) funding for eligible families.
