More than 800 People See 28th Annual Hilltop Circus

Earlier this month, the Pine Hill campus welcomed more than 800 people to see the 2023 Hilltop Circus: "Circus with a Chance of Meatballs." In addition, the 4th annual Hilltop Alumni Night saw more than 35 former students and Hilltop performers return to the Pine Hill stage, representing 16 years of Hilltop shows

"It was such a wonderful show run," says Jon Roitman, HMS movement teacher and Hilltop director. "I’m so proud of the 7th and 8th graders for all their hard work to build such an entertaining show! And it was so much fun to have so many of our alumni back in one place."

This was the 28th year that High Mowing middle-schoolers took to the stage in the Hilltop Circus. As part of High Mowing’s curriculum, the Hilltop Circus provides 7th and 8th graders a collaborative working environment to choose skills they want to learn and choreograph a skit. Through this learning process and a lot of patience, cooperation and teamwork, the magic of circus comes alive.

This year’s theme played on the beloved children's story of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" and the show ended with unicyclists "delivering" food to people in need across the world. High Mowing is pleased to help address food insecurity locally with Hilltop Circus patrons invited to leave a donation for the Open Cupboard food pantry in Wilton.

"This spirit of community giving has long been a tradition with the Hilltop Circus," Roitman says. "And I’m glad to see it continue in 2023 as well. Thank you to all who came and donated!"
