Cary Hughes Named Wilton Citizen of the Year
Long-time High Mowing School faculty member Cary Hughes was recently recognized as Wilton Citizen of the Year for his 30 years of service to the town.
Joining HMS in 1980, Cary has been part of the HMS community for 45 years. As one of the longest-serving faculty members at HMS, Cary has touched the lives of countless students, colleagues, parents, and community members.
His contributions to HMS have been numerous — his leadership, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to our students have left an indelible mark on our school community. In the courses Cary has taught and the leadership he has provided, Cary consistently offered himself in service of the students and the school and shared this global consciousness with our students through the Model UN program, which he established and led for decades.
Cary’s civic service extended beyond the classroom to the local community, where he has served as an important connection between High Mowing School and the Town of Wilton. He has held various positions in local town government, including serving as head of the Budget Committee.
